A little about us...

The Singers Around the WorldAround the World

Every two to four years, the Salem Singers go on tour of a chosen area or to a foreign country with their message. The Salem Singers have traveled extensively throughout the Pacific Northwest for concerts as well as radio and television appearances. They also have made concert tour crusades with Men for Missions, a branch of Oriental Missionary Society (OMS) International, traveling to Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Haiti, England, Ireland, Wales and Haiti as well as many additional trips to British Columbia, Alberta, Canada, the Northwest, California, Indiana, Florida, and most recently they toured Kansas and Oklahoma. But no matter where they sing, the Salem Singers never fail to touch the hearts of those who listen to their message of Salvation. As they do for all tours and engagements, they each pay their own travel expenses.

The Members

Although most of the original members are no longer with the group, 2 of the original 19 members, Francis Wonderly and Wilbur Rickard, still form the backbone of the singers, along with director John Schmidt and pianist Joan Thompson. Other Members of the Chorus include: Greg Hicks, Lionel Schmidt, Evan Dillon, Steve Furgeson, Nate Jones, Ron Doran, Bruce Harle, Dave Philp, Bill Dirks, Mike Wiebe, Mike Hiebert, Jim Bingenheimer, Larry Link, Sandy Lewis, and Dan Paull.

Concerts

Their Repertoire includes many southern gospel, traditional hymns and contemporary selections, although they sing only 12-16 songs in their concerts, changing the program to best fit the circumstances and needs of the audience. They will sing for any size audience, and they do not charge for their concerts. They will, however, accept a freewill offering.
