Director John Schmidt and Pianist Joan Thompson lead the group.
One of the original nineteen members, from 1943, is still singing in the
Chorus: Francis Wonderly.
Other current members of the Chorus include: Lionel
Schmidt, Evan Dillon, Steve Ferguson, Jim Ferguson, Nate Jones, Ron Doran, Bruce
Harle, Dave Philp, Bill Dirks, Mike Wiebe, Mike Hiebert, Larry Link, Sandy Lewis, and Dan Paull.

Every few years, the Salem
Singers go on tour with their message. The Chorus has traveled
extensively throughout the Pacific Northwest for concerts as well as
radio and television appearances. They have also made concert tour
crusades with Men for Missions, a branch of Oriental Missionary
Society (OMS) International, traveling to Japan, Korea, Taiwan, and
Hong Kong in 1976; England in 1980; Indiana in 1982; Florida and
Haiti in 1984; again to the British Isles in 1990 for the OMS
International Conference; and many additional trips to British
Columbia, Canada. Most recently they toured Oklahoma and Kansas.
But no matter where they sing,
the Salem Singers never fail to touch the hearts of those who listen
to their message of Salvation. As they do for all tours and
engagements, they each pay their own travel expenses. |
